Creative Crewel Embroidery

My mouth watered when I saw the cover showing a traditional stitched crewel design "matted" by a solid area of extravagantly textured pastel stitches. The author points out that crewel stitches are the same as other embroidery stitches, but include needlelace and weaving, couched and laid and dimensional stitches. The stitch instructions are good and include a photo of the worked stitch, clear drawing, and written instructions. 30 pages of "projects" are not projects in the usual sense, but instead aredetailed instructions for combining stitches with indications of level of experience needed.
